It's been a long road, getting from there to here.

The end of Peter's first year in Narnia was fast approaching. What had once been a strange new world was becoming to truly feel like home. Courtly manners were almost second nature to him, save for a few peculiar formalities he still hadn't quite wrapped his head around. Every day he tended to his studies, met with councils, and spent very little time doing much less. With the new year nearly here, however, his duties had been wavered in favour of some well-deserved rest.

And by rest, that meant allowing himself to have a bit of fun for the first time in a long time.

Mornings were not Edmund's favourite part of the day. In fact, if he could use his kingly powers and rid Narnia of mornings entirely, he'd do so in a heartbeat. That's why he's had to work long and hard to stop himself from grumbling at his attendant every morning when he's treated to a wake-up call.

He emerges from his room yawning, his neatly starched clothing at complete odds with his rumpled hair.

"Morning, Pete," Edmund murmurs, once he's poured himself into a seat at the breakfast table. He grabs for the pot of coffee, filling a cup to the brim and downing it all before looking up at his older brother. At a slightly more sedate pace, he pours a second cup. "Plans for the day?"

Mornings have always been Susan's favorite part of the day. There was just something about waking up to knowing that she had a purpose to doing so that put a skip in her step as she bounded towards her brother - besides, morning was when she did her archery practices, and oh how she dearly loved that as well.

"Good morning!" she called out cheerily, bow slung over one shoulder and the quivers over the other. "Have you had your breakfast already?"

Lucy loved mornings perhaps more than any other time; even after a year, she loved to be in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the castle that never quite stopped moving. There were still so many places to explore and people to talk to (and now she was friends with just about everyone) and things to do, and her mornings were always busy.

She was wandering up from the kitchens, having gotten some fortifying toast and jam after exploring the more obscure passages. When she saw Peter, she waved with her free hand. "Lovely morning, isn't it? Would you like some toast?"
