So when had "God save the Queen" become more than just the anthem?

That's what Edmund's been pondering-- an excuse for brooding the night away, really, since he knows he won't get the correct answer, a definite line to draw in time. He would stay in his head tonight if only he weren't getting that look from-- he had said it aloud, hadn't he?

As a matter of fact, he did. Susan raised a brow at him, uncertain as to whether or not she heard him right.

"What did you say?"

If Ed was going to brood all night, he might as well do it comfortably; Lucy was making them tea and walking through the doorway with a mug for each of them when she half-heard him speak.

"What anthem?"

Peter, who'd been flicking through the pages of the Sunday paper with only half of his attention engaged, looks over the edge of it. Edmund's murmur had barely been enough to disturb the dust motes in the air, but Peter had managed to catch the tail end of it.

When he breaks the silence, there's amused warmth in his voice. "What are you on about now, Ed?"
